I wanted to let you know how much we at Shiplake have enjoyed the rugby coaching since September. Andy has been fantastic, the children have thoroughly benefited by having him coming in each week and I believe it has resulted in a good few of our children going along to Henley Hawks. He had a lovely, gentle way of talking to and encouraging them all and I am sure they will miss him in January. Please tell him how grateful we are to have been involved in his sessions. We really hope we will have a chance to repeat the experience next September to December.

I know I say this every time but… we really do appreciate all that goes into running these events. It really is about opportunities for children to participate in sport, to participate against other schools and to learn and develop new skills.

The children came back buzzing after such a wonderful day of cricket. I’ve never seen a group of our students taking time to stop at the Head’s office to share their experience. A massive thank you to Chris and his Performance Cricket team for creating this opportunity.

The Performance Cricket courses and Chris Ellison’s expertise have already made a massive impact on Cricket at Shiplake College and within the Henley area. Chris’ enthusiasm and knowledge have been perfectly pitched at the correct level to inspire beginner cricketers and further the development of more ‘elite’ performers. He has the ability to pass on his knowledge of principles, making them accessible to all

We have been linked to Performance Sports through inclusive inter school competitions they have organised for year 2 through to year 6. Although each event is based on a specific sport, they focus on all aspects of child development including social emotional cognitive.

More recently we have had PS coaches in curriculum time with a focus on fundamental movement skills and throwing and catching for reception and key stage 1. The sessions to date have been of high quality and delivered by professionals trained to a high level. We are also looking forward to PS coaches coming in to run a tennis after school club in the summer term for children in key stage 2.

Performance Sports have provided breakfast, lunch and after school sports clubs on top of the delivery of National Curriculum. They have transformed many children’s attitude to PE, enriching our curriculum. I would highly recommend them.

“After working with Performance Sports since the school opened in 2014 what shines through is their absolute commitment to providing inclusive and nurturing sporting experiences for all children. Their inter-school festivals are brilliant and organised to ensure whole classes and year groups participate and achieve together.”

The festival went really well, all children were thoroughly engaged throughout the morning. Coaches were great too and supported the children well throughout each activity. Looking forward to the next tag rugby festival.

Year 6 Primary School Teacher

I just wanted to give you some feedback on today’s tag rugby.
I know that a couple of colleagues weren’t actually thrilled about heading out in the rain this morning but I have to say they absolutely loved the festival. As usual, they said it was really well organised, but the best feedback is that the kids were raving about it. Apparently, one of our really quiet and shy year 3 girls came back full of beans, saying how much fun she had had. So, thank you for arranging it. We look forward to more of the same and I have to say I’m very excited about our programme of coaching after Christmas.

Year 3 Class Teacher

I just wanted to say thank you for today. The children really enjoyed the tag rugby festival and gained so much more from it. They are all asking about when the next one will be!
